Interlibrary Loan - ILL
Generally known as ILL, the Interlibrary Loan department strives to fulfill the research needs of our students, faculty, and staff. ILL borrows from and lends library materials to institutions and libraries both nationally and internationally. We currently lend 600-700 and borrow 500-600 library materials a month during a regular semester.
The ILL office is located on the third floor of the Reynolds wing, room 303 (above Circulation). ILL office hours are 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday (except holidays).
ILL relies on student workers to help fill as many research needs as possible. Daily tasks students perform in ILL include: pulling books, journals and audio-visual materials, scanning/photocopying, faxing, computer data entry, sorting, charging/discharging materials from Circulation, book strapping, and packing/unpacking of mail and courier bags.
ILL is a friendly, flexible work environment and since the department is closed on weekends and holidays, students have their weeknights and weekends free to concentrate on their studies and social events. ILL department staff encourages their students to fit their work around their class schedule since education is the main reason you are at Wake Forest University.
The skills our students learn and perform can be adapted or applied in their personal research needs. Through the daily tasks of ILL work, students become familiar with an online catalog system, the Library of Congress call number system, scanning/photocopying, and database searching; all of which can be practical to fulfill their personal research needs and be included on resumes for future library jobs.
