Helping Patrons [edit]

People often come to the student desks to ask easy questions like, "where is the restroom?" or "where is the photocopier?" Sometimes they ask questions about our collections. Here's what you do:

  1. Ask for call number and title. If the patron does not know the call number, use the catalog to find it.
  2. Take the patron with you to the place where the material will be. Everything is shelved or filed using SuDocs or Library of Congress classification.
  3. If you are in microtext, ask if you should load the film for the patron.
  4. Let the patron know you will be there if they have any more questions.

Sometimes you get hard questions that you can't answer. In those cases, follow the steps here.
