Early American Imprints (1st series) or "Where's EAI ?!" [edit]

The red boxes are pretty confusing right now. My main goal, after we get the govdocs weeding project finished up, is to get the microtext collection in an easy-to-use arrangement again. Hopefully we can find a better way to get the "red boxes" organized and the notebook in order.

The purpose of this page is to show you how to get to the EAI, or Early American Imprints-1st series, information when a patron comes in. The red boxes containing the first series have been sent to off site storage because we can now access them online. EAII, however, is only available on microcards, so if someone comes in looking for an EAII document, it's on the bookcase in govdocs that holds the red boxes.

Step 1: [edit]

Someone comes in with an EAI call number that looks like

Step 2: [edit]

EAI microcards are not here, no matter what the catalog says! They're in offsite storage. So, you'll need to look at the Early American Imprints database. To do this go to the main library website: Click on "Databases."

Step 3: [edit]

Enter "Early American Imprints" into the search box and hit "submit" as shown below:

Select the Early American Imprints, Series I. Evans (1639-1800) link that shows up below the search box.

Step 4: [edit]

This is the Early American Imprints Database: If the patron has a specific title, you can enter that in the search box and select "in Title" and the document will show up.

If the patron does not have a specific need, they can use the tabs to search by genre or subject.

Once you have the correct document, the patron can read it on the screen, or they can click the PDF link and print from the PDF version of the file.
