My name is Merry Placer and I am a rising senior at Wake Forest. I am double-majoring in French and Sociology and I run track and cross country for the university. Flagstaff, Arizona is my home but I have enjoyed living in the South for the last few years. I decided to take this course because I want to learn first-hand about the social disparities in the South compared to other regions in the United States; additionally, I want to learn about the potential changes that might improve the situation for social inequalities throughout the country.
