My name is Jillian Hutchens and I am a senior at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. I am pursuing a Social Sciences Education degree with a concentration in Sociology(primarily gender and race issues). I will be licensed to teach all high school social studies (World and US History, Sociology, Civics and Economics and Geography). I work in the ACS Computer Labs at ASU as well as in the Upward Bound program tutoring first generation college bound students as well as students who are at or below the poverty level. I love my kids more than anything and I really hope that through these experiences in tutoring, that I have made a positive impact on their lives. I am also a sister of the Lambda Beta chapter of Phi Mu at ASU. I have also been involved with the Diversity Scholars program at ASU, which works to recruit minority students to attend ASU. When I am not at ASU, I live in Yadkinville, NC with my parents, Mickey and Beth, and I have a younger sister, Leah, who is a sophomore in the pharmacy programs at Campbell University in Buies Creek, NC.
